A Few Things to Keep in Mind
1. Your wedding license can be obtained up to a year before your wedding date.
In Maricopa County, you will find a green license and envelope for mailing
the bottom portion back to the county recorder. Please
bring both the license and envelope to your rehearsal so that we can complete
as much of the information as possible. The top portion of the
license is the keepsake portion, and we return the bottom portion to the county
clerk's office after it is signed by your officiant after your wedding ceremony.
In other counties, the wedding license is returned in total for stamping and
validation, and then returned to you. Regardless of where you obtain your
license, it is good throughout the entire state. And
regardless of the kind of format followed by the issuing county, we request
that you bring your license to the rehearsal.
Complete information is available on our website at spiritandlight.net.
2. Payment must be completed by the time of your
rehearsal. Or if there is no rehearsal, before your wedding day.
PayPal is available for your convenience on the website, but
must be completed prior to the ceremony. We also welcome your personal
check made out to "Spirit and Light."
To preserve the emotional integrity of your wedding and to avoid any possible
disruption of your celebration, we feel strongly that all business must be
transacted prior to your wedding day.
3. Our rates are based on the quality and quantity of services provided. Bridal
guidelines and planning books do us all -- officiants and couples alike --
a disservice by citing suggested amounts for ministers at a rate of less than
one percent of your total planning budget.
This figure is based on weddings held in churches where a fee has already
been paid to the church (usually $500 to $700, and up) for the use of the
facilities, and the minister is salaried by the church. The amount cited in
planning books as appropriate (usually around $50 to $150) is a token gift
to the minister that is traditionally donated back to the church by the minister.
However, Spirit and Light is an independent contractor just like your florist,
DJ, or caterer. We provide complete ceremony services, from start to finish.
Our total package is far less in total cost than what you can expect to pay
even the most modest traditional church.
4. We do not require contracts because we prefer to keep things simple. However,
we must be notified immediately if you have a change of plans, and availability
will be on a first come, first served basis.
5. Due to the increasing popularity of weekday weddings, your rehearsal time
might be adjusted to accommodate both the schedule of your particular venue,
and the schedule of your minister. Please make sure that both entities are
available for the time you have selected.
6. Have some ideas you want to share with your beloved? We are delighted if
you want to contribute to the creation of your ceremony, or the writing of
your vows. Jody will be happy to help you turn your thoughts into words, or
your words into a memorable part of your ceremony. If you want additional
assistance, she is available by phone, email, or fax. A complete list of contact
numbers is listed below.
